The MET is the English proficiency test accepted in the U.S. nursing licensure process: 45 of the 50 states accept it at the Board of Nursing (only California, Nevada, Oregon, Minnesota and New York do not), and TruMerit/CGFNS and Josef Silny accept it in the visa process (VisaScreen and Visa4Nurses). The strictest states require 58 overall and 59 in Speaking. This platform exists to take you there, by practicing exactly what the test asks for.

The method

Content is not what is missing. It is repetition with feedback, and that volume is what produces a pass.

Knowing your mistakes, your limits and the way you learn. And the thing almost nobody trains: not letting yourself be shaken, by comparison with others or by your own fear on the day. Whoever has practiced has something to show. The job is making sure it shows up.

I prepare Brazilian nurses for the MET, the proficiency test the U.S. licensure process requires. I have been doing it for over three years. And I learned one thing: almost nobody fails for lack of English. They fail for studying in the wrong direction, and for never having anyone correct what they write and what they say.

MET Ready is the systematization of what I already did by hand with every student.

And I was not going to ask anyone to trust a method I had never put to the test myself.

That is why I sat the MET. I studied on my own platform, took the timed mock tests, recorded the tasks, and booked the exam. I came out with 80 out of 80 in Speaking and 71 overall, level C1. No surprises on the day: the platform reproduces the same structure and the same layout as the test.

I do not promise anyone a score. I tell this story because the method was tested by the toughest judge there is.

Nobody passes by chance. Those who practiced pass.

Questions that always come up

Is the MET accepted for VisaScreen?

Yes. TruMerit/CGFNS accepts the MET for VisaScreen, and Josef Silny for Visa4Nurses. Important: the remote version of the MET is not accepted for this purpose. If your path is U.S. licensure, you need to take the test in person, at an authorized test center.

What score do I need on the MET?

It depends on the state. The reference I use in preparation is the requirement of the strictest ones: 58 overall and 59 in Speaking. If you aim for that number, you meet practically all of them. Always confirm your state's requirement with its board, because each one publishes its own.

How many states accept the MET?

45 of the 50 states, according to the official Michigan Language Assessment map. Only California, Nevada, Oregon, Minnesota and New York do not accept it. Always confirm with the Board of Nursing of your state before scheduling.

Do I need advanced English to start?

Not to start, but you need to know where you are starting from. That is why MET Ready starts with a full mock test, which tells you where you are starting from. And in the tier with debriefs we schedule a one-to-one conversation where I read your result skill by skill and tell you, honestly, what can be done within your deadline. If you do not have the foundation yet, I will tell you that instead of selling you a preparation that will not work.

Can I try the platform first?

And, free and without signing up, the MET guide has audio in the test format, questions from each section and my own answers to the 5 Speaking tasks. Scoring on the platform is for students only.

How long before the test should I start?

There is no single answer, because it depends on where you are and how far you are from your goal. What I can say is that a short deadline and a long distance is the only combination with no solution: in that case the right thing is to postpone the test, and I will tell you so.
